Boldt Castle tours.

  • Boldt Castle is a major Alexandria Bay tourist attraction. Alexandria Bay is among the 1000 islands that begin at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, and the site of one of two island castles. Boldt Castle staff are visitor-friendly, and a castle tour on a sunny, fall day is an enjoyable experience. You can spend a day there if you wish to, and staff is available to assist those who may be disabled. Elevator service and restrooms are available on the property and inside the castle. In addition to the blue turreted castle there are smaller castle-like buildings.  One building houses access to electricity, heat and water for the island. The other is a large, partially restored play house originally built to entertain young guests and future Boldt grandchildren. An outdoor, river-side gazebo provides a perfect setting for summer weddings.

Ferry tours.

  • Alexander Bay’s ferry tours include lunch and dinner cruises between the USA and Canada, along the 50 mile St. Lawrence River. Tours also include a visit to the Boldt Yacht House and medieval Singer Castle (built by Frederick Gilbert, a former president for the Singer Sewing Machine Company). Limited tours are available to Cherry Island to visit Casa Blanca, a mansion known for its Victorian antiques. Yacht tours are available upon request.

Great views.

  • Located near the multi-spanned, Thousand Islands International Bridge is the 1000 Islands Skydeck, an observation deck which offers spectacular views of the 1000 islands and the St, Lawrence River. The 1000 islands is a recreational area where Ontario, Canada and NYS meet.

Two-day stay.

  • During our 2007 fall visit to Alexandria Bay we stayed at Captain Thomson’s Resort located at downtown Alexandria Bay’s waterfront located directly across from Boldt Castle. Our two-day package deal included meals at the resort’s “Floating Restaurant” known for its quality cuisine and expansive views of Boldt Castle and The St. Lawrence River. Along with the castle visit we took a luncheon cruise with a guided-tour from Alexandria Bay to Canada.

Shopper’s haven.

  • Alexandria Bay offers shoppers good browsing among its many unique shops. The Bay area is among the ten top fishing locations in the U S where charter fishing and boating are available, as well as, water sports like scuba diving jet skiing and water skiing. For those who enjoy swimming there is a public beach and, for the more adventurous, Champagne Balloon Adventures and horse riding. Alexandrria Bay has two drive-in theatres, an opera house, several art galleries and beauty spas. There are 15 pristine golf courses within a short drive from the Bay Area.

Fun for kids.

  • Across The Thousand Islands Bridge on route to Alexandria Bay are fun adventures. Go Cart 500, Bonnie Castle Nine Green and a 36-hole miniature golf course. Also visit the Aqua Zoo which features sharks that swim with fish local to the 1000 islands, and Mazeland which is the largest hedgerow maze in the USA.

Alexandria Bay to Canada is a five minute drive across the 1000 Thousand Island Bridge Span. If you plan to enter Canada by auto bring along your passport.
