Hudson Valley Artist Exhibits in Kent

Posted: Thursday, September 2, 2010

Newburgh artist Clayton Buchanan is this year’s winner of the Kent Art Association’s President’s Show. This entitles him to a solo show at the KAA gallery on South Main Street in Kent. The show opens September 12 and features Buchanan’s figurative paintings—dazzling displays of light and color rendered in pastel.

Buchanan says preparing for a solo show is a challenge. “The pressure is on to get everything done in time. Along with my figurative art pieces and a couple landscape paintings, I’m excited to be showing off a new still life. I worked so hard to get the intricate details perfect, but I still need to get that painting framed,” he says. This isn’t Buchanan’s first solo show, but he is honored to have his artwork at the gallery. “The KAA is a great place to immerse yourself in art.”

Buchanan’s solo show will run in conjunction with the Elected Artists’ Invitational Show, from September 12 to October 17. The opening reception is Saturday, September 18 from 1pm-5pm.
